Bird Mosaics & Stepping Stones

Owl Stepping Stone - Erin Clark
Cardinal Stepping Stone - Erin Clark

Apparently the artistic gene runs in the family, and my aunt has recently taken up the hobby of making mosaics of all kinds. She invited me up to fool around in her studio a bit and to help her make bird stepping stones for my grandmother's garden. It was incredibly fun, and I think they turned out really well. Mosaics are very graphic and shape oriented just like a lot of my art, thus it felt very natural for me to create them. I hope to do more in the future, I think I've caught the mosaic bug. ;)

Barn Owl

Barn Owl - Erin Clark
I've finished changing up the colors, and settled on these with a few suggestions from friends. The backside of the card will be a continuation of the feather pattern. Perhaps I will do some more birds, or maybe some other animal cards in this style, I like the patterns and bright colors and graphic shapes...makes me want to keep going...

Barn Owl Color Combos

Barn Owl Color Combos - Erin Clark
Here are my owl card color combos I have been working on. I'm not really sure which I am leaning more toward yet. The middle is rather Valentine's-ish looking considering the shape of the barn owl's face is a heart. I'm not really sure if that's the look I'm going for yet, or if the other combos will win out.

The Christmas Moose Revisited

More than likely, a Christmas moose is gonna have a silly grin on his face...

Sketch for an Old X-Mas Card

I found this in one of my folders when I was searching for some other reference material for a project I'm setting up. It was the initial sketch for a little xmas card I did for some friends a few years back. I liked how it turned out a lot, very simple but fun ;)

The Christmas Moose

Step one for a Christmas card. Old Moosey doesn't looked too stoked about the antler lights does he? I think they are kinda festive. ;)

Santa's Helpers

Ringing in the good cheer with a logo for a fine christmas lighting company. It's always nice to see something you've worked on come full circle, especially with a good website. Check out Santa's Helpers!

Inspired by "Fireflies" by Owl City.

Owl Sketches

I guess you could say recently I've been pretty into owls.

Here are a few thumbnails and a sketch for some cards I'm making featuring some barn owls with their heart shaped faces.

Peacock Shell//RoxyBikini

So basically I entered the Roxy Design-a-Bikini contest for fun... and because there is prize money involved, haha. It's always good to have a little incentive! My inspiration for the design initially came from mussel shells. I like how they nestle themselves on rocks in a tight fashion with as many per square inch as possible. I gave the "shells" a peacock-like coloration to make them more flashy. I envision if this was actually made to have some purple-y metallic outlines on the shells to make them stand out.

If you have the time, vote for me please!

Pumas & Wolves & Bears OH MY!

There is nothing like a good trip to the zoo to get the creative juices flowing. It's even more special when the animals are less than a foot away. ;)
